DESCRIPTION:<p><i><strong>Call for artists:</strong></i>&nbsp; From Wednesday, September 2<sup>nd</sup> through Saturday, September 5<sup>th</sup> (while supplies last), the Hi-Desert Nature Museum will have a limited supply of blank wooden U.S. Route shields that will be available for artists to explore the spirit of travel, discovery, and the cultural landscape of the open road.&nbsp; </p><p>Submissions can range from realistic depictions of local flora and fauna to bold geometric designs inspired by the historic highway and the never-ending horizon.</p><p>Returned and accepted Route 66 shields will be on display during the exhibition “The Journey is the Destination: 100 Years of Route 66.”&nbsp; Completed submissions will be accepted Wednesday, October 7<sup>th</sup> through Saturday, October 10th.</p><p>Please contact Collections and Exhibits Coordinator Charlie Rossow for more information at crossow@yucca-valley.org or 760-369-7212.</p>
