Call for artists: From Wednesday, September 2nd through Saturday, September 5th (while supplies last), the Hi-Desert Nature Museum will have a limited supply of blank wooden U.S. Route shields that will be available for artists to explore the spirit of travel, discovery, and the cultural landscape of the open road.
Submissions can range from realistic depictions of local flora and fauna to bold geometric designs inspired by the historic highway and the never-ending horizon.
Returned and accepted Route 66 shields will be on display during the exhibition “The Journey is the Destination: 100 Years of Route 66.” Completed submissions will be accepted Wednesday, October 7th through Saturday, October 10th.
